How to Connect to TorGuard via the OpenConnect Client

OpenConnect is a VPN client, that utilizes TLS and DTLS for secure session establishment, and is compatible with the SSL VPN protocol. OpenConnect-gui is the graphical client of OpenConnect for the Microsoft Windows system (or any other system Qt and OpenConnect run at).

Step 1.)

Download the OpenConnectt client from the following link here and install it using all default selected options.

Step 2.)


Once installed, open the app and select File --> Profiles --> New Profile



Step 3.)

Check "Customize" and set a name for the connection then pick a hostname from our network page located here and enter it as per the screenshot below, make sure to always append :22 to the end of the hostname as this is the port we use for OpenConnect connections - then click Save & Connect.



Step 4.)

You will then be prompted with the following window - click "Accurate information" to continue



Step 5.)

You will then be prompted to enter your TorGuard VPN Username



And then your TorGuard VPN Password



It should connect and show you as connected



Click the VPN Info tab to verify you are indeed connected - you should see the local IP the VPN has assigned you, along with the DNS, cipher and DTLS cipher, you should also see data passing.



Step 6.)

Head over to the TorGuard What's My IP page and verify your IP has changed just to be sure:




NOTES:

1) If you are unable to connect try to disable UDP, go to File --> Profiles --> Edit Selected Profile and on the bottom left-hand corner you will see disable UDP, check this and retest your connection.
2) If your ISP or country blocks TorGuard hostnames try using a direct IP rather than our hostnames while connecting.
