How to Setup TorGuard OpenVPN app on Android (root required)

How to Install TorGuard Android beta

Before we begin, it is important to note that you must have a rooted android device in order to use the TorGuard beta Android OpenVPN app. If you have not yet rooted your android, LifeHacker has a great tutorial that can assist in this process.

Step 1 - Install OpenVPN Settings

First things first, let's install the latest OpenVPN settings from Google Play.

Once OpenVPN Settings is installed, start the app and from the menu select "Prerequisites". Make sure all lights are green - if there are any options marked red, simply download the suggested app to turn the light green.

Step 2 - Install TorGuard Beta app

Next, we need to install the TorGuard app. To do this, just Open Google Play and search for "TorGuard" then select install:

Select "Install"...

Step 3 - Connect to TorGuard!

Open the TorGuard app and select the server you wish to connect to.

Next, enter the username and password that was sent to you in your TorGuard VPN service activation email and select "Login".

Wait a moment while the connection is established, then your status should show as Connected!

You can verify this by opening a browser and checking your IP address! To abort your VPN connection, just open the TorGuard app and press "disconnect".
